Guido Reichstadter's actions disrupted traffic and required a significant deployment of police and emergency personnel, diverting them from their primary mission of protecting the community. He faces charges including crowding, obstructing or incommoding, unlawful entry, and failing to obey a police officer, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Reichstadter, 45, a former jeweler and math student, initiated his protest Friday night, citing opposition to war with Iran and the development of artificial intelligence. While the right to protest is a cornerstone of American liberty, it must be exercised responsibly and within the bounds of the law. Reichstadter’s actions crossed the line, endangering himself and others, and imposing a significant burden on law enforcement and emergency services.
