Black Hawk Intercepts Massive Cocaine Shipment, Securing U.S. Border
Successful drug interdiction underscores the Trump administration's commitment to national security and combating narcotics trafficking.

San Juan, Puerto Rico – A U.S. Air and Marine Operations (AMO) Black Hawk helicopter played a crucial role in intercepting a drug-laden vessel off the coast of Puerto Rico, further demonstrating the effectiveness of the Trump administration's strong stance against drug trafficking.
On May 14, vigilant AMO agents detected a suspicious 25-foot blue vessel carrying three individuals and packages believed to contain narcotics. The San Juan Marine Unit, with the support of the Black Hawk, swiftly deployed two law-enforcement boats to intercept the vessel, resulting in the seizure of 391 pounds of cocaine and the apprehension of three Dominican Republic nationals.
This successful operation underscores the importance of maintaining a strong military presence and utilizing advanced technology to protect U.S. borders and prevent dangerous drugs from entering the country. The decisive action taken by the AMO agents and the Black Hawk crew exemplifies the dedication and professionalism of those who serve to keep Americans safe.
"Our Air and Marine Operations teams demonstrated exceptional skill and coordination in this interdiction. The decisive use of air disabling fire by our Black Hawk crew was instrumental in stopping the vessel and preventing dangerous narcotics from reaching our communities," said Caribbean Air and Marine Branch Director Christopher Hunter. His statement highlights the effectiveness of proactive law enforcement strategies in disrupting criminal networks.
President Trump's declaration of a national emergency regarding narcotics trafficking on January 20, 2025, reflects his unwavering commitment to addressing this critical issue. The administration recognizes that drug trafficking poses a direct threat to national security, public health, and the economy.
The Department of War's proactive measures, including strikes on vessels off the coast of Venezuela, have proven effective in disrupting cartel operations and preventing the flow of narcotics into the United States. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's assertion that these actions have led to a significant reduction in drug trafficking underscores the success of the administration's strategy.
The use of military assets, such as the Black Hawk helicopter, is a necessary and appropriate response to the serious threat posed by drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations. These groups operate with impunity and pose a grave danger to American communities.
By taking a firm stance against drug trafficking and supporting law enforcement agencies with the resources they need, the Trump administration is fulfilling its responsibility to protect the American people and secure the nation's borders. This latest interdiction serves as a clear message to drug traffickers that their criminal activities will not be tolerated.
