Flight Attendant Kaela Berg Enters Congressional Race, Emphasizing Fiscal Responsibility and Limited Government
Kaela Berg's campaign focuses on addressing economic anxieties through responsible governance and protecting individual liberty.

Kaela Berg, a Minnesota state legislator and flight attendant, has announced her candidacy for the state's Second Congressional District, offering voters a message centered on fiscal responsibility and limited government. Berg, who balances her legislative duties with her career as a flight attendant, argues that her real-world experience gives her unique insights into the economic challenges facing Minnesotans.
Berg's announcement speech highlighted her concern for the economic well-being of her constituents, stating that “There is no one better to fight for us than one of us, and working people have not been at the table.” She emphasizes the need for practical solutions that promote economic growth and opportunity, rather than relying on government intervention.
With 30 years of experience as a flight attendant, Berg understands firsthand the importance of a strong economy and a stable job market. She believes that government should create an environment where businesses can thrive and individuals can achieve financial independence. As a former union leader, serving as vice-president, interim president, and chair of the government affairs committee for the Endeavor Association of Flight Attendants (representing Endeavor Air, a Delta subsidiary), Berg is familiar with the intricacies of labor negotiations and the importance of protecting workers' rights while fostering a competitive business climate.
Berg's campaign comes as concerns about the national debt and inflation are growing. A recent Gallup poll showed that a record 55% of Americans believe their financial situation is worsening. Berg argues that government overspending and excessive regulation are contributing to these economic problems. She believes that by reducing the size and scope of government, cutting taxes, and promoting free-market principles, the economy can be revitalized and individual prosperity can be restored.
Berg joins a number of other candidates from the labor movement running for Congress in the 2026 midterms, including smokejumper Sam Forstag, ironworker Brian Poindexter, organizer Clair Valdez, and firefighter union president Bob Brooks. While these candidates may share a background in organized labor, Berg distinguishes herself by advocating for fiscally conservative policies and a limited role for government in the economy.
Berg seeks to fill the seat being vacated by incumbent Democrat Angie Craig, who is running for Senate. Berg views the growth of government bureaucracy and the expansion of entitlement programs as threats to individual liberty and economic prosperity. Her plan is to fight for policies that empower individuals, promote personal responsibility, and protect the free-market system.
