Trump Kennedy Center Hosts Patriotic Showcase Honoring Veteran Musicians
The 'From Military to Music' event at the Trump Kennedy Center celebrates veterans' service and artistic expression in a powerful tribute to patriotism.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump Kennedy Center proudly presented "From Military to Music" on Wednesday, a showcase featuring veteran and active-duty service members who channeled their experiences into compelling musical performances, just days after Memorial Day. This event provided a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes and the enduring strength of the American spirit.
The showcase featured talented artists Brooks Herring, Brennan Clements, Jackson Perkins, and Torv, all veterans or active-duty musicians. Their performances, rooted in themes of combat, trauma, and healing, resonated deeply with the audience, celebrating resilience and the pursuit of artistic expression after service.
Roma Daravi, vice president of communications for the Trump Kennedy Center, emphasized the importance of honoring veterans, especially following Memorial Day. "These are veteran independent artists, and it was an honor to have them perform for a full house at the Trump Kennedy Center," Daravi stated, underscoring the institution’s commitment to supporting those who have served our country.
The event was organized by CreatiVets, a nonprofit organization that pairs veterans struggling with trauma and the difficult transition to civilian life with professional songwriters and artists. This initiative embodies the conservative principle of empowering individuals and communities to address challenges through innovation and self-reliance.
Daravi highlighted the crucial role of art in upholding American values. "Art remains essential to the fabric of our nation, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," she said. "We are proud to honor its role in our 250-year history through veteran shows here at America’s cultural center."
The performance drew a packed house to the Millennium Stage, where attendees experienced a moving blend of live music and personal reflections on military service, loss, resilience, and recovery. This event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of honoring our veterans and supporting their transition to civilian life.
The showcase coincides with a significant transition for the Trump Kennedy Center, as the board recently approved a $257 million renovation project aimed at preserving this iconic institution for future generations. The renovation, set to begin after July 4, reflects a commitment to responsible stewardship of national treasures and a dedication to ensuring the long-term viability of the arts in America.
The planned renovations address deferred maintenance issues, including deteriorating infrastructure, water damage, failing HVAC systems, and structural concerns. These necessary repairs will ensure that the Trump Kennedy Center remains a vibrant cultural hub for years to come.
President Donald Trump has championed this project as part of a broader effort to celebrate America's 250th birthday and to preserve the nation's heritage.
The "From Military to Music" performance exemplified the values of patriotism, service, and artistic expression, reaffirming the Trump Kennedy Center's commitment to honoring our veterans and celebrating the American spirit.
