Trump Sounds Alarm on 'Downtrodden' Blue States as Radical Socialists Hijack NYC Primaries
Backed by extreme Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Democratic Socialist candidates advocating for the seizure of private property and abolishing ICE coast to victory.

In a disturbing development that confirms the far-left's complete capture of the Democratic Party, three radical socialist candidates have swept key congressional primaries in New York City. Endorsed by New York’s controversial socialist Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, these far-left candidates ran on extreme platforms that threaten the rule of law, national security, and basic constitutional structures. Because these races occurred in deep-blue districts, all three candidates now face virtually unimpeded paths to the United States Congress, raising serious concerns about the future direction of federal policy.
The socialist sweep prompted a swift and biting response from President Donald Trump, who took to Truth Social to warn Americans about the decline of progressive-run metropolitan areas. "Many Communists running in badly failing Blue States," Trump wrote. "The votes seem to have them doing quite well against each other. The bad news is that history has conclusively shown that the downtrodden States that they will soon be running will ONLY GET WORSE. MAGA!" Trump’s warning reflects growing alarm among conservatives regarding the erosion of traditional American values and fiscal responsibility in progressive strongholds.
The most alarming victory occurred in New York’s 13th Congressional District, where Darializa Avila Chevalier, an active member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), ousted 71-year-old, five-term incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat. Espaillat, notable for being the first former illegal alien to serve in Congress, was ultimately defeated by an even more radical challenger who beat him by three and a half percentage points. Avila Chevalier’s platform represents a direct assault on national sovereignty and public safety, calling for the complete abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the total elimination of all deportations, and the implementation of a socialized healthcare system.
Avila Chevalier's extremist agenda is matched by a history of radical personal conduct. During the campaign, she was dogged by her past social media posts in which she advocated for the government seizure of private property, labeled former President Joe Biden a "rapist," cursed out former Vice President Kamala Harris, and demanded the abolishment of the police. In other offensive posts, she referred to the United States as a "f-----g disgrace" and bragged about using the American flag as a napkin to wipe her hands. When confronted with these statements during a live television broadcast, Avila Chevalier stormed out of the interview rather than defend her record. Despite these disqualifying actions, she was actively promoted by Senator Bernie Sanders and Mayor Mamdani at a joint rally at King's Theater on June 18, 2026.
In New York’s 7th Congressional District, State Assembly Representative Claire Valdez won her primary in a landslide. Valdez, who currently represents Assembly District 37, is also a member of the DSA. She is now poised to take over the seat of retiring Representative Nydia Velázquez, ensuring that another radical voice will join the progressive bloc in Congress. Valdez’s platform mirrors the DSA’s broader efforts to replace free-market capitalism with state-controlled socialist programs.
The third Mamdani-backed winner, Brad Lander, won the primary in New York’s 10th Congressional District. Lander is a progressive Democrat and former DSA member who left the socialist organization in 2023. His departure was prompted by the DSA’s controversial response to the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel, which claimed the lives of 1,200 innocent citizens. The DSA has continued to defend its extreme anti-Israel stance, labeling Israel's defense operations in Gaza as a "genocide" and keeping anti-Israel advocacy at the core of its political mission.
The ascension of these candidates has drawn sharp warnings from conservative policy experts. Rachel Bovard warned that this "growing movement" is no longer a fringe faction but has successfully integrated into the Democratic Party's mainstream establishment. Bovard noted that many of these radical activists hold views that threaten the nation's constitutional balance, including calls to abolish the Senate and the Supreme Court.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has frequently clashed with President Trump, celebrated the primary results as a "new chapter" for the Democratic Party. However, for conservative observers, this new chapter represents a dangerous shift toward lawlessness, fiscal ruin, and institutional decay. With their primary victories secured, these three radicals are now on track to bring their extreme agendas directly to Washington.
