One Nation Streamlines Operations to Fortify Against Legal Challenges
Party takes proactive steps to ensure organizational integrity and protect its grassroots movement from potential external threats.

One Nation is undertaking a strategic restructuring of its local branches nationwide to strengthen its organizational integrity and safeguard against potential legal challenges. The party, recognizing the increasing scrutiny and potential for politically motivated attacks, is taking proactive steps to ensure its grassroots movement remains robust and resilient.
In August of last year, One Nation initiated a rapid expansion of its local branches, aiming to establish a presence in every federal electorate. While this rapid growth has demonstrated the party's commitment to grassroots engagement, it has also exposed certain administrative inconsistencies that could be exploited by opponents. To address these concerns, One Nation's new general manager, Kelvin Morton, issued a directive in April ordering branch committee members to properly reconstitute their branches.
The internal review, which prompted this directive, identified “significant risks” associated with existing branch structures. These risks include discrepancies in formal establishment minutes and non-compliant election processes for key roles such as Coordinators, Secretaries, and Treasurers. These inconsistencies, while perhaps unintentional, could leave the party vulnerable to legal challenges, potentially undermining its ability to effectively advocate for its conservative principles.
To mitigate these risks, One Nation is implementing stricter controls on its new branches and members. All committee members and nominees are now required to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and branches must adhere to a “media silence” policy and a social media ban. These measures are designed to protect the party's internal communications and prevent sensitive information from being leaked to opponents or the media.
While some may criticize these measures as restrictive, they are a necessary step to ensure the party's long-term stability and effectiveness. In an increasingly hostile political environment, it is essential for conservative organizations to protect themselves from potential attacks and maintain a unified front. The implementation of NDAs and media restrictions reflects a pragmatic approach to safeguarding the party's message and preventing internal disputes from becoming public.
One Nation's commitment to free speech remains unwavering, as evidenced by its policy platform, which explicitly champions the right to free expression. However, the party also recognizes the need to balance this commitment with the need to protect its organizational integrity and prevent the dissemination of misinformation. The implemented measures are not intended to silence legitimate dissent but rather to ensure that internal communications are conducted in a responsible and constructive manner.
